Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the main group to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features Teor (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look mismatched, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party understands precisely where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as key figures in House Halovar could help the party enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the remote area in search of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Planners parties.
Audiences can look forward to learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
